Turbidimetry An instrument used to measure the concentration of particles in a solution. The principle is based on the properties of scattered light.
When a beam of light shines on particles in a solution, the light is scattered by the particles. The intensity of scattered light is related to the size, shape and concentration of the particles . In a nephelometric analyzer, a light source is used to produce a beam of monochromatic light that is passed through a sample in solution.
In a nephelometer, the concentration of particles is determined by measuring the intensity of scattered light. Typically, instruments use a detector with a light scattering angle of less than 90° to collect scattered light. The intensity of scattered light is directly proportional to the concentration of particles.
The scattering nephelometric analyzer can select different scattered light angles according to the size of different particles to improve the accuracy of measurement. In addition, appropriate light sources and detectors can be selected depending on the measurement range. Some advanced turbidimetric analyzers can also measure particle size and shape distribution.
In general, turbidimetric analyzers use the interaction of scattered light with particles to measure the concentration of particles. By measuring the intensity of scattered light, the concentration of particles in a sample can be determined.
