How to use the hematocrit electrode

The hematocrit electrode is used to measure the hematocrit of blood. Hematocrit refers to the volume ratio of red blood cells in the blood. Here is how to use the hematocrit electrode:
1. Preparation: Make sure the electrodes are clean and connected to the corresponding measuring equipment.
2. Take personal protection measures: wear gloves and masks to ensure hygiene and safety during the operation.
3. Obtaining a sample from an individual: Use a sterile needle or fingerstick to obtain a blood sample from the patient’s fingertip or earlobe. The sampling site may be cleaned with an appropriate disinfectant.
4. Prepare the electrode: Align the blood position indicator (usually a small hole) on the electrode with the blood sample and gently insert the electrode into the sample.
5. Record the measurement: Observe the hematocrit value on the device and record it. Usually, the hematocrit value is expressed as a percentage.
6. Cleaning and disinfection: After the measurement is completed, remove the electrodes from the blood, clean them with appropriate detergents, and disinfect them to prevent cross infection.
It should be noted that the use of hematocrit electrodes requires professional training and qualifications, as correct operation and reading are critical to the accuracy of the results. Before using the hematocrit electrode, it is recommended to consult relevant professionals for more detailed operating guidelines and precautions.
