How to use the microbial susceptibility culture monitor

1. Preparation:
Collect, prepare, and store the microbial specimens to be tested according to prescribed methods. Before starting the test, remove the culture medium and antibiotic test strips from the packaging bag and place them on a stable surface.
2. Operation steps
① Insert the culture medium and antibiotic test paper into the hole of the microbial susceptibility culture monitor, making sure that the test paper is completely inserted into the bottom of the culture medium.
②Transplant the microbial specimen to be tested onto the surface of the culture medium, using the plate method or the Oxford cup method. Note that the number of specimens should be consistent with the area of the culture medium to avoid problems such as excessive bacterial removal or low colony density.
③ Close the petri dish, start the microbial susceptibility culture monitor, and adjust the test parameters, such as temperature, time, display unit, etc.
④After waiting for a period of time, observe the test results. The instrument will generally automatically provide indicators such as the sensitivity of the strain to various antibiotics and the minimum inhibitory concentration, and display them in colors, numbers, text, etc.
⑤According to the test results, select appropriate antibiotics for treatment or conduct further testing and analysis.
3. Precautions
① Wear protective equipment during operation to avoid contamination and reproduction of microorganisms.
②The instrument should be cleaned and maintained regularly before and after operation, and should be disinfected and treated according to prescribed methods.
③When using antibiotic test strips, avoid reuse or contact handling to avoid cross-infection and misjudgment.
