Principle and use of radioactive tomography scanner

The principle of the radioactive tomography scanner is to use rays emitted by radioactive isotopes to penetrate the object to be measured, and the intensity of the rays attenuates after passing through the object to be measured. Then the computer system measures the ray intensity and calculates the measurement results to obtain the thickness or density distribution of the measured object.

How to use a radioactive tomography scanner is as follows:
1. Inject or add compounds labeled with radioactive substances (such as 14C, 3H, 32P, etc.) into the sample to be tested. The particles released by the decay of these radioactive isotopes will excite fluorescence and record the fluorescence.
2. Place the instrument in a dark room, aim the receiver (optical fiber) at the sample, and use a photomultiplier tube to convert the optical signal into an electrical signal.
3. Record the electrical signal and use a computer to draw a concentration map or Beer curve of radioactive activity.
4. The radioactivity of the sample can be obtained according to the Beer curve, and the radioactivity concentration of the sample can be obtained according to the spectrum.
