Introduction and classification of electrophoresis gel plates

Electrophoresis gel plate is a glass plate used in gel electrophoresis experiments, usually made of two layers of glass with polyacrylamide gel sandwiched between them. The size and shape of the gel plate can be customized according to experimental needs, usually 10-20 cm square and 3-5 cm high.

Gel plates usually have one or two edges on one side for marking and positioning. The edge can be used to fix sample tubes or enzyme plates to facilitate experimental operations. The surface of the gel plate can be used to mark sample locations or for quick positioning using a laser-scanning barcode.

In gel electrophoresis experiments, gel plates are used as supports to hold and separate electrophoresed samples. Polyacrylamide gel is an organic polymer material polymerized by acrylamide and cross-linking agent. It has good charge and molecular sieve effect and can be used to separate molecules and ions of different sizes. In an electrophoresis experiment, samples are separated and moved through a gel plate by an electric current, eventually ending up at a certain location on the gel plate. The markings on the gel plate can help the experimenter quickly find the separation position of the sample, thereby better analyzing the nature and composition of the sample.
Electrophoresis gel plates can be divided into two types: flat plates and vertical plates.
